Indian National Cricket Team registered a comprehensive 137-run win over the hosts Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. It was a good day to celebrate, and everyone including the head coach Ravi Shastri let their hair down. Virat Kohli and his men retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and will now take a shot at lifting the trophy in Sydney. India batted with extreme caution, and the bowlers delivered when it mattered the most.

Team India takes a 2-1 lead at the MCG

Cheteshwar Pujara hit a ton, and Jasprit Bumrah scalped nine wickets to dent Australia. Chasing 399 to win, the hosts got bundled out for 261. Pat Cummins and the tail-enders once again showed a lot of fight. After bagging nine wickets in the match, Cummins scored a gutsy 63 off 114 balls. It delayed the victory for the visitors as they failed to shoot out the side on day four of the penultimate Test at ‘G’.

Ravi Shastri got caught once again in the act:

It was a hard-earned win, and therefore the players were expected to let loose a bit. Interestingly, they were led by none other than Shastri. The coach can be seen holding a pint of beer in his hand as all the members posed for a picture together. That was not the end of the show as later on Shastri walked out of the team bus with a beer in his hands.

Shastri has always attracted controversy since taking the reins from Anil Kumble. He has often been accused of loose talks, and critical statements and the current issue only adds to the long list of stories.

Kohli-Shastri working bond

Skipper Kohli has time and again backed Shastri, and both share a strong working bond. Not too long back Shastri defended Kohli’s antics on the field.

Team India’s captain Kohli has lost his cool more often than not in the ongoing series, but the coach didn’t bat an eye.

“He was fantastic. What is wrong with his behaviour? Of course, you can question. But as far as we are concerned, he is an absolute gentleman,” Shastri said while referring to animated character in Kohli.

India will take on Australia in the final Test at Sydney on January 3, 2019.
