Ravichandran Ashwin To Play Vijay Hazare Trophy Semifinal For Tamil Nadu

Team India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has made himself available for the Vijay Hazare Trophy semifinal on October 23 (Wednesday). Tamil Nadu will face Gujarat in the first semifinal in Bengaluru while Karnataka will take on Chattisgarh in the other game.

Ashwin was a part of the India Test squad for the three-match series against South Africa. Virat Kohli & Co bowled out South Africa for 162 and 133 after posting 497 runs to pocket the game within four days. Thus, doors opened from Ravichandran Ashwin to feature in Vijay Hazare Trophy semifinal.

The cricketer will fly from Ranchi to Bengaluru today to play the all-important game. It will be a massive booster for the Dinesh Karthik-led side who have looked domitable in this competition. Ashwin took to Twitter to share the news with his followers.

“Freedom series done and dusted, off to Bengaluru now for the #VijayHazareTrophy. Stay committed to the course and the course will stay with you,” Ashwin tweeted.

Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin, who made a return to the Indian team after almost nine months made an immediate impact. He claimed seven wickets in the first innings of the first Test and returned with eight in total. He has also significant contributions in Pune and Ranchi to end with 15 scalps – the highest by a bowler in the series.

The veteran off-spinner will hope to keep up the good job when India take on Bangladesh in the upcoming two-match Test series starting from November 18. India, who are at the top of the points table in the ICC World Test Championship will look to consolidate their position.
