Riyan Parag was the savior for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their recent IPL 2022 match against Royal Challenger Bangalore (RCB) being played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune on April 26, 2022.
He was the only bright light in the otherwise dismal performance from the RR team as they were asked to bat first by RCB captain Faf du Plessis who won the toss. RCB made one change as Anuj Rawat’s luck finally ran out and he was replaced by Rajat Patidar. Rajasthan also made two changes, with Daryl Mitchell making his IPL debut in place of Obed McCoy and Kuldeep Sen coming in for Karun Nair.
RR opening duo failed to fire as Jos Buttler made 8 and Devdutt Padikkal made 7, Ravi Ashwin promoted to no.3 scored 17 runs. Sanju Samson (27) was the only batter other than Riyan Parag to get past the 25-run mark. Daryl Mitchell made 16 runs on his debut.
Wanindu Hasaranga, Josh Hazlewood and Mohammed Siraj starred for Royal Challengers Bangalore as they picked two wickets each, while Harshal Patel picked one wicket and went for plenty of runs.
Riyan Parag Hits Harshal Patel For 18 Runs In The Last Over
Parag was left with the tail to take Rajasthan to a decently competitive total and he did just that as he slammed Harshal Patel, who is considered to be a death overs specialist for 18 runs in the last over of the Rajasthan Royals innings.
He hit the second ball for a four through midwicket and then ran a quick two runs. The 4th and 6th balls of the innings then went for sixes as Riyan Parag finished with 56* in 31 balls with 4 sixes and 3 fours to his name.
Meanwhile, Harshal Patel finished with figures of 1/33.
