Having not played with MS Dhoni since the end of the World Cup in July this year, young Rishabh Pant caught up with his illustrious teammate in Dubai on the occasion of Christmas. As soon as the World Cup ended, MS Dhoni left everyone surprised by taking a sabbatical from the game. He served the Indian Army and decided to further extend his break.
While he was expected to return to action in the ongoing home season, MS Dhoni is yet to don the Indian jersey. In fact, he has not played a single competitive game since the World Cup. He missed the tour of West Indies before missing the home series against South Africa, Bangladesh and West Indies. The veteran is also not a part of the T20I and ODI squads for next month’s series against Sri Lanka and Australia respectively.
There is still no clarity over his future although it looks highly unlikely that the selectors will pick him in the squad before he proves himself in the next IPL. While announcing the squad for the Bangladesh series, MSK Prasad had said that the selectors are moving on from MS Dhoni and they have remained true to their words so far.
Since the World Cup ended, Rishabh Pant has donned the wicketkeeping gloves in T20Is and ODIs. The youngster has struggled to do well with the bat as well as gloves but finally showed some promise in the recently-concluded ODI series against West Indies by playing knocks of 71 and 39.
Pant and Dhoni enjoy in Dubai:
Rishabh Pant, nonetheless, made the most of the break by jetting to Dubai and spend some time with MS Dhoni. MS Dhoni’s fan account shared a video and some pictures in which Pant can be seen enjoying his outing with MSD.
