India’s vice-captain Rohit Sharma, on behalf of the entire squad present in South Africa, had a special message for the Indian U-19 team in New Zealand, ahead of the all-important finals of the ICC U19 World Cup scheduled to take place on February 3 at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui.

India defeated the Pakistan U19 team by a massive margin of 203 runs in the semi-finals of the multi-lateral tournament to face Australia in the finals. India stormed past the young Aussies by a margin of 100 runs in their first game of the coveted championship.

Apart from the U-19 teams of Australia and Pakistan, India defeated Papua New Guinea, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe by thumping margins to assert their dominance in the tournament. Rohit was certain about the fact the team would do well even in the finals with the mentorship of Rahul Dravid.

“Throughout the Test series, we have been following their journey to the finals. They have played some really good cricket. We always thought that this team had something special in them especially with Rahul Dravid being the coach. We are sure these guys will do their best,” addressed Sharma according to the video released by BCCI.

Rohit Sharma, like many others from the cricketing fraternity, had a word or two about the pace battery in the Indian U19 team. Also, the Hitman claimed it would not be an easy proposition for the Indians to win a championship but the entire senior team is behind the young Indian colts from South Africa.

“Every game that they have played, they destroyed the opposition which is always good to see. Their fast bowling has been really impressive. Everybody has been talking about their bowling. And Yes, I hope they do the same in the finals as well,” added the 30-year old.

“I know that it’s not going to be that easy. Winning a championship is never easy. But we can wish them good luck. The entire Indian team is watching them play from in South Africa. On behalf of the full squad here, we wish that they bring the Cup back to India,” concluded Rohit Sharma.
