Rohit Sharma has impinged himself as one of the great white-ball batsmen of the modern era and was one of his many trademarks is his ability to hit monstrous sixes with ridiculous ease and nonchalance.
Rohit Sharma was always blessed with the incredible gift of timing a cricket ball but it was when he channelized his talent and married it with consistency that his ‘Hitman’ moniker really came to the fore.
With the proliferation of coronavirus bringing the game to a screeching halt, fans are dearly missing the ‘Hitman’ taking centerstage and gobsmacking them with his outrageous timing.
And, it seems, the ‘Hitman’ is himself missing it. Rohit Sharma recently took to his Instagram account where he posted a beautiful compilation of some of the sixes that he has stroked during the course of his 13-year-old carrier.
Rohit Sharma captioned it as- “Miss doing this.”
No one has hit more sixes than Rohit Sharma in ODI cricket since 2013
Coming back to Rohit Sharma’s penchant for hitting sixes, the Mumbai Indians captain os fourth in the all-time list of batsmen with the most number of maximums.
In 224 One-day Internationals that Rohit has played, he has stroked 244 sixes. Sharma has taken his outrageous six-hitting spree to a completely different level ever since he started opening the innings for India in white-ball cricket on a full-time basis.
Since then, the swashbuckling opener has hit 220 sixes, the second being England’s Eoin Morgan’s 152 from 128 innings.
During his maiden One-day International double-hundred against Australia, Rohit Sharma broke the record for hitting most sixes in an innings [16]. The record stood for six years before Eoin Morgan eventually broke it during his whirlwind knock against Afghanistan in the 2019 World Cup.
The Indian vice-captain was at the peak of his powers last year across all formats of the game. Sharma became the first cricketer in the history of the game to score five hundreds in a single World Cup and also finished as the leading run-scorer in ODI cricket. Rohit also had a great start to his opening stint in Test cricket as he broke a plethora of records in home series against South Africa and Bangladesh.
