Rohit Sharma might be sitting miles away from the action that is taking place in Australia but the India star is keenly following it. The star batsman was quick to react after the Men in Blue beat Australia in the second T20I on Sunday to clinch the three-match series with a match in hand.

Hardik Pandya starred with the bat as India beat Australia by six wickets while chasing a mammoth total of 195. The Virat Kohli-led side crossed the finishing line with two balls remaining. Pandya scored an unbeaten 42 and shared an unbeaten 46-run stand with Shreyas Iyer to help India cross the finishing line without much trouble.

In the final over, India needed 14 runs off Daniel Sams with Hardik Pandya at the striker’s end. He started the over with a double before dispatching the pacer for a six. It was followed by a dot delivery before the hard-hitting batsman deposited the ball in the stand to fire India to the series win.

Apart from Pandya, the likes of Shikhar Dhawan (52), Virat Kohli (40) and KL Rahul (30) made useful contributions too. For Australia, Matthew Wade top-scored with 58 while Steve Smith scored 46.

Rohit Sharma congratulates India:

Soon after India won the game to clinch the series, Rohit Sharma took to Twitter to congratulate the team. India’s limited-overs vice-captain was delighted with the way the team performed as he tweeted:

“What a series win for Team India. Loved the way they played nice and composed. Big Thumbs up to each one of them.”

Rohit Sharma is currently at the National Cricket Academy for his rehab. The India star had to go to the NCA because of the hamstring injury he had sustained in October while playing in IPL 2020. Rohit Sharma is a part of India’s Test team for the upcoming series in Australia but his participation will depend on his fitness test.

The BCCI has confirmed that he would be assessed by the medical team on December 11 at the NCA. He will get the green light to go to Australia only if he clears the test.
