He was the highest run-scorer of the World Cup with 648 runs in the marquee event.
He also scored five centuries in the tournament in England, which is most by any player in a World Cup tournament. Ahead of the World Cup, he led Mumbai Indians to fourth IPL title and in the process, he went on to become the most successful IPL captain. The dashing opener also finished as the highest ODI run-getter of the year.
The star batsman scored 1490 runs in 28 matches at an incredible average of 57.30 and a strike rate of 89.92 in 2019. In Tests, Rohit Sharma was also able to grab the opportunity as an opener. He showcased his mettle in three-match Test series against South Africa. He scored an aggregate of 529 runs in the four innings at a mind-boggling average of 132.25.
In the recently-concluded three-match ODI series against West Indies, Rohit Sharma scored 36, 159 and 63 runs and was adjudged the player of the series for his overall tally of 258 runs. After playing the fearless brand of cricket, Rohit Sharma has been finally rested for the ongoing T20I series against Sri Lanka. He is expected to make a comeback for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia.

Meanwhile, India opener Rohit Sharma on Tuesday, spoke to domestic team Mumbai which has been finding ways to overcome challenges in the ongoing Ranji Trophy as reported by India.com that cited news agencies as quoting a source.
Mumbai already tasted two bitter defeats at home. They were humiliated by 10 wickets by Railways at the Wankhede Stadium earlier and then they were outsmarted by Karnataka by five wickets at the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) Ground last Sunday.
Their current form has not been good as they registered only one win from three games. Based on their current form, they fell behind at No.13 in the Cross Pool League (combined A and B groups) out of 18 teams. It should be noted that only five teams will make it to the knockouts.
Rohit Sharma spoke to Mumbai side at the BKC facility on several methods to boost the team’s Ranji Trophy form. Mumbai coach Vinayak Samant, bowling coach Pradeep Sundaram and team manager Ajinkya Naik marked their presence.
