Former India coach Ravi Shastri has hailed Rajasthan Royals (RR) spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal, as an unsung hero for the franchise in this ongoing IPL 2022 as the leg-spinner has been in tremendous form with the ball.
Chahal was not retained by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise despite him picking more than 100 wickets for them in the Indian Premier League. In the IPL 2022 mega auction, RR successfully bid for the services of Chahal at INR 6.5 crores.
The Haryana leggie has formed a deadly combination with fellow Indian team spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and has the most wickets at the moment in the IPL 2022 with 18 scalps in 8 matches including the best bowling figures of 5/40 and a hat-trick to boast of. He currently holds the Purple Cap of most wickets in the IPL 2022.
He Bowls Good Variety: Ravi Shastri On Yuzvendra Chahal
Former India captain and head coach Ravi Shastri has lauded Rajasthan Royals’ wrist-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal as an unsung hero as he continues to do the job for his team but doesn’t get the appreciation he deserves.
Calling Chahal an unsung hero, Shastri while speaking on Cricket Live on Star Sports, said, “He’s the unsung hero so many times. (So many times) Chahal has turned the match on its head with some real brilliance. He bowls good variety. In very tough situations his job gets cut out not just to stop the flow of runs but also pick up wickets, and he does that.”
Rajasthan Royals will be playing against Mumbai Indians on April 30 in a return match and they had defeated the Five-time champions by 23 runs in their previous encounter in the IPL 2022. Rajasthan has scored both the highest team score in this tournament, making 222-2, and defended the lowest score successfully as they won against RCB despite scoring 144/8.
I Think Their Bowling Group Is Second To None In This Competition: Matthew Hayden
This led to Former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden to reckon the Royals have the best bowling line-up in the ongoing tournament and the legendary batter even complimented their skipper Sanju Samson for the bowlers brilliantly.
Speaking on Cricket Live on Star Sports, Hayden said, “What’s impressed me the most about Sanju Samson is the way he’s rotated his bowlers. I think their bowling group is second to none in this competition. Despite the coin toss not going in the favour of Sanju Samson (on so many occasions), his bowlers are accessing some fantastic areas and their lines and lengths (are brilliant) obviously. The real consistency with which Sanju Samson has been rotating his bowlers is brilliant.”
