Veteran fast-bowler S Sreesanth, who is gearing up to return to competitive cricket, is keen to play in the senior division league of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA). S Sreesanth will be eligible to play for competitive cricket after his ban ends in September.

In August last year, the BCCI cut short the life ban imposed on him for the IPL spot-fixing scandal in 2013.  BCCI ombudsman DK Jain ordered for S Sreesanth’s spot-fixing ban to be reduced to a seven-year suspension. The World Cup-winner is now eyeing a return to competitive cricket at the earliest.

And to make sure that he is in a good rhythm, he has decided to play in TNCA. The World Cup-winner is no stranger to playing in TNCA. He was at the MRF Pace Foundation and played in the TNCA league for several years.

“I have fond memories of Chennai. I learnt the ropes of fast bowling from Dennis Lillee and TA Sekar. I have great memories of playing at MA Chidambaram Stadium. The wickets, conditions and quality of batsmen make it challenging for bowlers. I would love to play in the TNCA league,” said S Sreesanth.

“I am bowling with passion and slowly getting back my rhythm. I am enjoying my bowling and the process that a first-class cricketer has to undergo to perform at the Ranji level,” he added.

In his earlier stints, S Sreesanth plied his trade for Globe Trotters in the TNCA league. However, he does not mind playing for any team this time as he is just focused on playing.

“All I want is to play. Globe Trotters is fine, or else any team. Whichever team one play for, intensity will be the same,” he said.
