India and South Africa will lock horns in the second ODI at the Supersport Park, Centurion after India won the first ODI in Durban by a margin of six wickets.

India against the imaginations of many will go into the second ODI as the firm favourites looking at the recent form of the tourists in the limited-overs format.

India’s recent run in the Rainbow nation has also been impressive, as they won the last Test match at the Wanderers in Johannesburg and have now won the first ODI after losing the first two Tests.

The win in the first ODI also meant India has dethroned South Africa from the number one spot in the ODI format and also ended South Africa’s 17-match unbeaten streak in ODIs on home soil.

India has been in the magnificent form of late especially in the 50-over format, as they last lost their bilateral series in 2015 against South Africa.

India also gained a lot of positives from the first match with skipper Virat Kohli scoring his 33rd ODI century and his first ODI century in South Africa to guide India to victory in the Durban ODI. Kohli now has an ODI century in every country he has played. This was also his 20th century in a successful ODI run chase.

Another positive for the Indian team was the return of Ajinkya Rahane to the ODI set up after he got overlooked from the ODI side in the past.

India has been struggling with the number four position and his return has somewhat given the Indian team some stability at the position. Rahane scored 79 in the first ODI.

Indian spinners also did a pretty good job for the team, as the two wrist spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal combined and picked up five wickets in the middle overs.

South Africa, on the other hand, has been struggling both with form and injuries. The latest addition to the injury list is their captain Faf Du Plessis who scored a century in the first ODI and was the only bright spot in the batting department for the home side.

AB De Villiers has already been ruled out from the first three ODI’s due to a finger injury. Du Plessis ruled out of the rest of the ODI and T20 series due to a fractured finger.
