SA vs IND 2018: Lungi Ngidi's Fiery Spell Impresses Dale Steyn

Hosts South Africa were at the top in the second innings of the second after removing India’s top three batsmen early courtesy, Lungi Ngidi, and Kagiso Rabada. Kagiso Rabada got the hosts Proteas, an early breakthrough by removing Murali Vijay. All four South African bowlers were on fire in the second innings. Lungi Ngidi who came as a second change bowler got a wicket on the very first ball of his spell in the form of KL Rahul.

Ngidi came into the side as Dale Steyn’s replacement as the veteran fast bowler picked up a heel injury in the second innings of the first Test. Ngidi picked up his maiden Test wicket in the first innings by picking up the wicket of Parthiv Patel.

Ngidi was on fire in the second innings as he removed the Indian skipper on just five runs as the ball nipped back and trapped Kohli in front of the stumps. Kohli scored 153 runs in the first innings. Next came in Parthiv Patel who was promoted in the batting order in place of Rohit Sharma.

Ngidi struck Patel in the rib cage, leaving Patel lying on the ground. Ngidi went back to his run up without showing any concern to the batsman. This impressed Dale Steyn who tweeted:

“Love that PP down and Lungi ready at his mark for more #fastbowlersdontcare”
