SA vs IND 2018: Twitter Trolls Rohit Sharma For Another Failure, Wants Ajinkya Rahane To Replace Him
For the second game in a row, India raised a lot of eyebrows with their selections. Ajinkya Rahane’s omission from the playing eleven for the first Test was met with a lot of criticism and speculations were rife that the Mumbai batsman would return to the team for the ongoing second Test after his replacement Rohit Sharma failed to deliver in Cape Town.
The reason for the criticism was quite obvious. With Rahane being one of India’s best performers in overseas Tests in addition to being the vice-captain of the side, no one was expecting him to be benched. The right-handed batsman averages more than 53 when he plays outside India. Six of his nine Test centuries have come outside India, as he has amassed 1817 runs in 24 overseas Tests.
But the team-management preferred form over reputation, giving Rohit Sharma the nod ahead of Rahane. Rohit then got the nod ahead of Rahane in the second Test too, much to the surprise of many. The decision was once again severely criticised and the criticism only elevated after Rohit scored just 10 in Centurion.
