South Africa has been quite ruthless in the three-match Test series against India and courtesy their victories at the Newlands in Cape Town and the SuperSport Park in Centurion, they have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead.

Indian bowlers have been quite impressive in both the Tests. However, their batsmen haven’t been up to the mark on both occasions which have cost them dearly and have gone on to hurt them. A series victory in South Africa will still elude Virat Kohli and Co., but they would look to take some positives from their bowling performance in the first two Tests.

Current Indian skipper Virat Kohli is known to be a vocal character both on and off the field and have chopped and changed with his team combination in all Tests he had been the captain. South African skipper Faf du Plessis took a sly dig at Kohli and said that they were quite surprised that India had tinkered with their team combination in 34 straight Tests.

During the Press Conference before the third Test match at the Wanderers, Faf expressed his opinions on the same.

“We were quite surprised when we realized India have changed their playing XIs in 34 straight Tests. I don’t think it’s something we can ever do.”

The idea of chopping and changing has worked for Kohli and India in home conditions. However, in tough overseas conditions, they were left scratching their head.

India had a sensational 2017 in home conditions and won nine straight Test series. However, they couldn’t quite continue their dominant run in the Rainbow nation after losing a couple of straight Tests to go 0-2 down the three-match series.

Without a doubt, South Africa will be the firm favourites to take the series 3-0 but India, on the other hand, will definitely look to finish the Test series on a high. The pitch at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg is expected to generate steep bounce which might make life difficult for the Indian batters.
