Not many can forget the stumping affected by MS Dhoni to dismiss Sabbir Rahman in the 2016 ICC World T20. Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been responsible for some brilliant and blazing-fast stumpings throughout his career that would often swing the match into India’s favour. In that group game against Bangladesh, something similar transpired that eventually resulted in a thrilling one-run victory for India. But in another incident, the Bangladeshi batsman revealed how he avoided being outsmarted by Dhoni for the second time.

The instance took place in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup game against the men in blue. The Jharkhand wicketkeeper-batsman had another chance to outwit the right-handed batsman, but the latter came prepared on this occasion. Sabbir Rahman danced down the track to go for the big shot on a slow delivery by Yuzvendra Chahal.
Unfortunately, the ball went under the bat as he went for the shot early. The ball ended up in Dhoni’s gloves behind the stumps. This time being alert, Rahman recoiled to the crease before Dhoni dislodged the stumps. After going back inside, the 28-year old muttered to the former captain “Not today”.
Sabbir Rahman asked MS Dhoni about his bat and his formula to hit sixes:
Furthermore, Sabbir recalled the time when he asked the 38-year old the secret of his bat. He struggled to understand how it clears the ropes every time he strikes while they find it difficult. In response to that, Dhoni revealed that it is all about self-belief. When asked MS Dhoni for his bat against India, the Indian batsman said not to use against his team and instead wield it against other sides.
“I asked him what the secret of his bat was. Why whatever he hits goes for sixes when we have to struggle to clear the fence. He had said it was all about confidence. I had asked him to give his bat to me for the India match. Dhoni had said he could give me his bat but that I could not use it in the match against India. I could play against other teams with it.” Rahman said as quoted by CricFrenzy
