Sachin Tendulkar Opens New Academy in Partnership With Middlesex

Legendary India cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar on Thursday (July 19) launched a global coaching academy namely Tendulkar Middlesex Global Academy for junior cricketers in association with English county club, Middlesex.

Meanwhile, the academy will host their first camp at Merchant Taylor’s School in Northwood, in August.

Furthermore, they have chalked out the plan to host camps in Mumbai, London, and beyond.

Richard Goatley, Middlesex’s CEO, said he believed this would be “the market-leading coaching programme in the world”.  Goatley believes it would give a fresh perspective to the youngsters owing to a platform.

The academy will target boys and girls of age group 9-14 and will provide 100 scholarships to underprivileged children during this brand-new initiative.

Tendulkar, however, has long had an unofficial link to Middlesex. He was likely to join Middlesex in 2009 and has a residence near Lord’s in St John’s Wood.

Moreover, last May he appeared at the ground to present Nick Gubbins, the young batsman, with his county cap.

Talking about the association Tendulkar admitted that they aim to create good global citizen for future. They also strive to provide best cricket education for the students. He aims to create familiar atmosphere for the young guns.

“I am delighted to be partnering with Middlesex Cricket on this new venture. The objective is not only to produce good cricketers but also good global citizens of the future. Through this association, Middlesex and I will look to provide the very best in cricket education, as much as possible, for our students,” Tendulkar said.

The legendary batsman Tendulkar has time and again spoke about building India as a sports nation. This is likely to be the first step towards achieving his goal.
