Sachin Tendulkar made a fair assessment of the one-venue Test proposal in place by Cricket Australia for India’s tour Down Under later in 2020. Tendulkar was clearly not in favour of the idea. Cricket Australia is mulling to host India for the four-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy in a single stadium.

Hosting the entire Test series is not an ideal call, although it might save the board, with the travelling and fleet expense up to some extent once the season resumes after the novel coronavirus pandemic situation settles.

The India vs Australia series also has much importance as it might help the hosting board withstand the loss. The broadcast revenue will also be generated from the much-anticipated tournament.

Sachin Tendulkar: Australia would not know who is the home team

Though Sachin Tendulkar was strongly against the proposal, he conceded that Australia would not know if they are the home side or away, by the end of the series. However, a firm stand on the series is yet to be taken after a discussion between both boards.

“I don’t support it at all. On a lighter vein, I would say that by the end of five Tests, Australia would not know if they were the home team or India. But seriously, having five matches at one venue is not something that I support,” Sachin Tendulkar told Mirror.

Australia and India have been fierce rivalries. After the traditional Ashes against England, the Test series between Australia and India, holds a major significance. It also pulls major crowd from both the countries as two of the best cricketing nation in history, traditionally crosswords for a four-Test series.

India beat Australia Down Under the last time both the sides faced-off. It was the first Test series win on the Australian soil India and captain Virat Kohli as well.
