Apart from this happening between Saleem Malik and Kiran More, the Indian keeper also had a hilarious episode with Javed Miandad. It happened during the 1992 World Cup, which was the inaugural one between the two iconic teams. Miandad was primarily unhappy due to the constant bickering of More behind the stumps; however, the incident was more comical.

Speaking about the fiasco in 1989, Kiran More stated that whenever India and Pakistan play sledging incidents are sure to take place. The 57-year old revealed that Saleem Malik walked up to him to hit him with the bat after More told a nasty word to him in Punjabi. The retired keeper wished that microphones were available during that time since it was a highly comical jibe.

Whenever an India-Pakistan series takes place, sledging happens. In Pakistan when we went in 1989, I sledged Salim Malik in the Karachi Test and he came to hit me with the bat. I said to him a very nasty word in Punjabi because we speak the common language. Actually, it’s so much fun and I wish that there were microphones all around the ground because it will be hilarious for everyone,” the 57-year-old stated in the Greatest Rivalry Podcast.

The Vadodara-born cricketer recalled that Javed Miandad walked out to bat in his 100th Test match in the third Test in Lahore. Hearing Kiran More appeal, the former Pakistan captain affirmed that he was going to score a century and leave today.

The four-Test series resulted in a draw as no side won either of the matches. It also marked the international debut of Sachin Tendulkar and Waqar Younis.

“Javed was playing his 100th Test match at Lahore. He came out to bat and Maninder Singh was bowling. Third or fourth over he was plumb leg before. It was a beautiful arm ball from Maninder and the ball rapped him below the knee roll. He said to me ‘why are you appealing. This is my 100th Test match, I am going to score a century and go home,” he added.
