Sandeep Lamichhane, the Nepalese leg-spinner, has switched from his former Big Bash League [BBL] franchise, Melbourne Stars, to join Tasmania-based Hobart Hurricanes as the latter complete their roster ahead of the 10th season of the tournament.

Lamichhane joins the likes of West Indian all-rounder Keemo Paul, South African middle-order batsman Colin Ingram and the English pair of Wills Jacks and the leading T20I batsman in the world, Dawid Malan as Hobart Hurricanes overseas recruits for BBL 10.

Sandeep Lamichhane was also a part of the Indian Premier League franchise, Delhi Capitals, but he, however, failed to get a single outing. The Nepal superstar has played 20 BBL matches in which he has claimed a total of 26 wickets. The leg-spinner was expectedly chuffed to bits at joining the Hobart Hurricanes family.

“I am humbled and honoured to join the Hobart Hurricanes family for BBL10. I have always got a lot of love and support in Australia, and the premium quality of competition in Big Bash is exciting. I can’t wait to play at the Blundstone Arena,” Sandeep Lamichhane was quoted as saying by the Hobart official website.

Meanwhile, Hobart Hurricanes coach, Adam Griffith, said that Sandeep Lamichhane’s mystery spin will add another dimension to the Hobart Hurricanes bowing group besides hailing the leg-spinner as a proven wicket-taker.

“We have seen how Sandeep can change a game with his mystery spin, and he can bowl at any stage of the innings. He’’ a proven wicket taker who will add yet another dimension to our bowling group.” Adam Griffith said.
