It seems like being dropped from international cricket is working fine for the wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed. The flamboyant batsman is knocking runs for the team consistently to press his case for the national selection. Meanwhile, in an interview with Shahid Afridi, Sarfaraz Ahmed is hopeful of representing Pakistan team once again.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had removed Sarfaraz Ahmed as captain from all formats, with immediate effect. The wicketkeeper-batsman was also dropped from the side for the tour of Australia. Further, he was asked by the PCB to regain form in domestic cricket, to be a part of the team in the future.

So far, it all went right for Sarfaraz Ahmed in the domestic cricket. Playing for Sindh, Sarfaraz Ahmed scored a couple of fifties and one century, which came after five years. Besides that, the ex-skipper of Pakistan also worked on his fitness regime and looked in perfect shape to receive praise from Shahid Afridi.

I want to improve myself – Sarfaraz Ahmed

Speaking to Shahid Afridi, Sarfaraz Ahmed stated that he is willing to make a comeback into the team as soon as possible. He is also hopeful of Pakistan Cricket Board giving a call-up for him after the knock he played for his domestic unit in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy (Pakistan’s first-class tournament).

”I prepared mentally after being dropped. I have received suggestions from the former cricketers to concentrate on domestic cricket and perform for the team. After playing a lot of international cricket as a captain with a lot of pressures, playing domestic cricket will help to find ourselves. I played World Cup and captained my team in all three formats for quite a few years, which drained me mentally,” Sarfaraz said.

”I just want to forget about the international team for some time and concentrate on domestic cricket. I want to improve myself and my game. After preparing myself to all the challenges if Pakistan board gives me a chance, then I will be ready to play again for the country. The quality of domestic cricket also improved a lot,” Sarfaraz concluded.

Well, it would be interesting to see how things turn out for Sarfaraz Ahmed. Mostly, he would receive the call-up with decent scores in the domestic circuit. His improved fitness will undoubtedly help him to press his case during the selections.
