The comparisons between Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar never seems to come to a stop. Being two of the best batsmen during their times, Kohli and Tendulkar have piled up runs at an alarming rate in all the formats they played in. Speaking of Virat Kohli’s consistency in all the forms of the game, there’s little doubt that he wouldn’t go on to become one of the greatest. But former Pakistan seamer Sarfraz Nawaz makes a massive claim.

The current Indian captain possesses the class and consistency to take over Sachin Tendulkar as the leading run-getter in ODIs. Most of all, Kohli has age on his side and with 11867 runs in 248 games, he is the closest in the present era to surpass Tendulkar, whose tally is 18426. As far as the number of centuries goes, the 31-year old has 43 tons, only eight less than Sachin’s 51. Kohli is also only 30 international hundreds away from Tendulkar’s 100, which is the highest.

In an interview with Indian Express, Sarfraz Nawaz remains confident that the 31-year old will get past Sachin Tendulkar on all fronts. Nawaz added that the leading run-getter in Tests and ODIs had a weakness in inswinger. On the other hand, he believes that Kohli’s nemesis was the outswinger early in the career, but now he belongs right at the top.

“Virat Kohli is undoubtedly beyond comparison. He will certainly surpass Tendulkar on all fronts. Tendulkar was weak against inswing while Kohli hardly has any flaw in his batting. Initially in his career, he would fumble against the outswingers but now he has reached the pinnacle of his batting.”

Not many current and former cricketers have refrained from praising Virat Kohli and labelling him as the best currently. As a batsman, he is one of the confident strokeplayers, who has excelled in ODIs, Tests, and T20Is equally well. When it comes to captaincy, India has delivered under him consistently in all three versions of the game.
