Opener Smriti Mandhana continued her good run of form in the ongoing tour of South Africa, as she scored her second ODI hundred in the second ODI against South Africa in Kimberly.
Mandhana came into the match on the back of a match-winning 84 runs in the first match. Indian women won the first ODI by a huge margin of 88 runs and came into the match to seal the series in their favour.
South Africa won the toss and chose to field first in the second ODI. The decision backfired, and Indian openers made complete use of the conditions and were involved in a 56-runs opening wicket partnership.
Mandhana was then joined in by Mithali Raj, as the two batters were involved in a 51-run stand. Mandhana then went on to score 135 runs in 129 balls, as she was partnered well by Harmanpreet Kaur, who also scored 55 runs.
Mandhana’s innings was studded with 14 boundaries and one six, as she helped the Indian team reach 302/3 in 50 overs. Harmanpreet and Veda Krishnamurthy also scored convincing 55 and 51, respectively.
The Twitter went crazy, as Mandhana scored her second century in the second ODI:

Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur and Veda Krishnamurthy are putting on a show against South Africa. What does the BCCI give us by way of coverage? Zip. If this was India men playing Timbuctoo, we'd have had hype and wall to wall coverage and.. oh well.

Wonderful to see India's women playing with such authority in South Africa. Especially delighted to see @mandhana_smriti get runs. Quality player.

So, #SmritiMandhana hit a 100 and #Vedakrishnamurthy is going hammer and tongs at SA bowlers. Theres no where to even catch a glimpse of this action. So terribly disappointing. I pity agency reporters who make match reports based on #twitter updates. Only source
