Indian Cricket team skipper and star batsman Virat Kohli has said that scoring a triple hundred is not his prime goal as his only aim is to win games for his country.

Meanwhile, he will be playing County cricket to prepare for the England tour. Kohli recently signed for Surrey Cricket Club for the month of June. As a result, he will miss the historic Test against Afghanistan.

India and Afghanistan will square off against each other in One-off Test at Bengaluru from June 14. Although the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials wanted Kohli to play but went the other way.

The prolific run-scorer had a horrific time the last time he toured to England. He scored 134 runs in five games with the highest score of 34 including two ducks.

However, the 66-Test veteran is yet to score a triple-century. Although he has notched up six double hundreds in his Test career as a skipper.

Kohli’s first double ton came against Windies on Caribbean shores in 2016. He continued to hit double-centuries during a series in 2016/17 home season, starting from New Zealand followed by England and Bangladesh.

In the home season 2017/18, Kohli was back to scoring double centuries against Sri Lanka and scored over 200 runs twice in two games. He also achieved the record of most double-centuries by a captain in the history of Test cricket, breaking Brian Lara’s record, who had touched the mark five times in his career as captain.

Scoring triple-hundred is not on my list: Virat Kohli

While speaking to Times of India, Virat said that scoring a triple-century is not a milestone he is looking for. Instead, he wants to focus more on winning matches for India in the red-ball cricket.

The only goal is to win games. That’s the goal of other persons, not me,” Kohli said.

Meanwhile, Virender Sehwag is the first batsman to score a triple-century for India in 2004 against Pakistan at Multan. The second occasion came against South Africa in the Chennai Test in 2008.

Most recently, in 2016, Karun Nair registered 303* against England at Chepauk Stadium in the Chennai.
