Team India clinched the ongoing five-match series by thrashing Australia by 5 wickets in the third One-Day International on Sunday (September 24) at Indore.

Batting first, Australia were looking primed for a big score after Aaron Finch and Steve Smith added 154 runs for the second wicket. However, Finch???s dismissal for 124 opened the floodgates as the visitors lost some quick wickets and failed to cross the 300-run mark despite being in a strong position till the 40th over. The world champions managed to score only 59 runs in the last 10 overs as India clawed its way back in the game.

In reply, the Men in Blue went off to a dream start with Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma adding 139 runs for the first wicket. The big partnership was broken by Nathan Coulter-Nile when he dismissed Sharma for 71. 8 runs later, Rahane departed too after being trapped in front by Pat Cummins for 70.

Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya then added 56 runs for the third wicket to keep India well on course for an easy win, but the visitors clawed their way back in the game by dismissing Kohli and Kedar Jadhav in quick succession to reduce the hosts to 206 for 4. However, Pandya played a brilliant knock of 78 runs and added 78 runs with Manish Pandey to help India chase down the total with utmost ease in the end.

Former India opener Virender Sehwag took to Twitter to congratulate Virat Kohli & Co. and praised Rohit, Rahane and Pandey for their 70s.

???Congratulations India on a wonderful series victory. Great 3 70???s from Rohit, Rahane, Hardik.
Comprehensive performance throughout,??? Sehwag tweeted.
