Shahadat Hossain Physically Assaults His Teammate, Gets Suspended For One Year

We often come across cricketers being suspended or banned for doing wrong activities on the field, however, in the latest, the Bangladesh Cricket Team player Shahadat Hossain was suspended for a year after assaulting his teammate physically. He was involved in a duel with his teammate Arafat Sunny, who already appeared for Bangladesh in international matches.

Incident happened during the second day’s play between Dhaka Division and Khulna Divison at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna. The first-class game is a part of prestigious National Cricket League tournament, which will be one of the key tournaments to get the nod for the players to escalate into the senior team.

It comes to know as per the reports of Cricbuzz that Arafat Sunny has termed Shahadat Hossain inefficient when it comes to shining the ball at one end. It didn’t sit down well with the fast bowler, who started an assault on the youngster. It required the fellow cricketers to rescue Arafat Sunny.

Shahadat Hossain slapped with a fine of TK 50000:

Now, he will be out of the game for 1 year and also slapped with a fine of 50,000 Taka. Shahadat Hossain accepted all the charges levied on him and returned home with immediate effect of charges. This is not the first time for Shahadat Hossain to get the suspension, as he was earlier banned for life for involving in a domestic violence case.

“Under the level, four offences a player will be banned from participating in any BCB competition for one year while he will be slapped with a fine of Tk 50,000,” said the official on Monday (November 18).

“Shahadat accepted the verdict and returned back home. We have given the report of the match referee to the technical committee and they will decide his future but he has been barred of taking part in this NCL game,” he added.

The fast bowler was even jailed for torturing an 11-year-old, which led to the BCB banning him from all forms of cricket. The ban, however, was lifted by the BCB on generous grounds as the case was still under jurisdiction and Shahadat was allowed to play the domestic matches.
