Shahid Afridi Buys Mushfiqur Rahim's Bat For Rs. 15.17 Lakh; Sends Out Strong Message

Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi has bought the bat put into action by senior Bangladesh wicket keeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim for USD 20,000 (Rs. 15.17 lakh). Afridi bought the memorabilia for his foundation which has been doing a lot of charitable work in the past few years and is active in the pandemic situation. The entire amount will donated to Covid-19 relief work in Bangladesh.
Mushfiqur Rahim had kept the bat to go under hammer last month. It is the same willow with which he hit his maiden double century against Sri Lanka in a 2013 Test match.
“Shahid Afridi bought my bat on behalf of his foundation. I feel privileged and honoured that someone like him has joined our great cause,” Rahim was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.

Shahid Afridi sent out a strong message after buying the bat kept in auction. It is also reported that Afridi had contacted Mushfiqur with the offer after fraudulent bidders had flooded the auction page. Afridi, in his message said, cricket is to bind and we must look forward for a better tomorrow.
