Bangladesh pulled off an emphatic victory in the third T20 match of the Nidahas Trophy 2018 against Sri Lanka as they chased down a huge target of 215. Sri Lanka posted a mammoth total of 214/6 in 20 overs while batting first.

Sri Lankan opener Kusal Mendis gave the hosts a quick start as he scored a 30 ball 57 which included five sixes and two boundaries. However, the star of the Sri Lankan innings was Kusal Perera who played an incredible innings of 74 off just 48 deliveries. Upul Tharanga also played a handy innings of 32 in the lower order.

On the other hand, all the Bangladeshi bowlers were on the expensive side.However, Mustafizur Rahaman was the pick of the bowlers for as he picked up three wickets but gave away 48 runs in his four overs.
No one would have imagined Bangladesh to chase down this huge target at mid-innings. Sri Lanka had the backing of their home crowd.

But the Bangladeshi batsmen had some other idea s and decimated the Sri Lankan bowling attack as they chased down the target in 19.4 overs.
Bangladesh’s most experienced batsman in the current squad, Mushfiqur Rahim played an innings of his life as he scored 72 at a strike-rate of 205.71.
The emotions ran high as Bangladesh chased down the target and the entire team sprinted towards the centre of the pitch. The entire team celebrated their highest ever run chase.

However, one Bangladesh player missed out the celebrations. All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan who was ruled out of the series grieved that he missed out on the team’s celebrations.
Shakib said:
“Hearty congratulations to my team for this record chased win and all the best wishes for the matches to come. I’m badly missing celebrating together in the field. However, the tremendous win will usher big inspiration in the days to come.”
