Former New Zealand fast bowler and Mumbai Indians bowling coach, Shane Bond, has heaped high praise on the champion pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, following the latters’ match-winning spell of 4-14 against Delhi Capitals in the 1st Qualifier of IPL 2020.

Jasprit Bumrah once again looked at his imperious best on Thursday night as he produced a masterclass in fast bowling to not leave knock the stuffing out of the Delhi Capitals batting-unit but also leave his fans as well as pundits absolutely gobsmacked.

Bumrah announced his arrival with possibly the ‘ball of the tournament’ as he knocked over Shikhar Dhawan with a pacy inswinging yorker. He backed it up with another crucial scalp of Shreyas Iyer before returning for his second spell to knock over Marcus Stoinis and Daniel Sams in a space of six balls.

Bumrah not only registered his best IPL figures but he also leapfrogged Kagiso Rabada to become the leading wicket-taker [27] of the season.

Heaping high praise on Jasprit Bumrah, Shane Bond, in a video released by Mumbai Indians social media handles, stated that it’s a privilege for him to watch the best T20 fast bowler in the world go about his business.

“Jasprit, it’s a privilege to watch the best T20 fast bowler in the world go about his work,”  Shane Bond said in a video posted by Mumbai Indians on Twitter.

Jasprit Bumrah was adjudged the ‘Player of the Match’ but as usual, for the champion pacer, his performances do not matter as long as his side keeps on winning.

“I am okay with not getting wickets and winning the tournament, I have been given a role so I just want to execute that role,” Bumrah said in the post-match presentation.

Apart from Jasprit Bumrah, Shane Bond heaped high praise on his compatriot, Trent Boult, who was instrumental in giving Mumbai Indians a great start as he knocked over the duo of Prithvi Shaw and Ajinkya Rahane in the first over.

“I’ve loved working with Trent since 2012. We’ve seen him at his very best and I was very excited to have him in our team. Because I know what a devastating bowler he can be and he has done that through this tournament for us,” Shane Bond added.
