Former Australian cricketer Shane Warne is one of the most elite cricketers of the century, ushering the national team to some of the greatest highs. From 1992 till 2007, Shane Warne bagged more than 1000 wickets across Tests and ODIs and his 708 was once the highest in Tests. Amongst the marvellous players that he played against, the 51-year old has picked two cricketers who were the best.
Shane Warne has picked Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara as two of the best batsmen of his era. Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara were the mainstays of their respective teams during their playing days and accumulated a truckload of runs, irrespective of the format. Sachin Tendulkar is the highest run-getter in Test and ODI cricket while Brian Lara is for the West Indies in that aspect.
Shane Warne underlined that Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara were the players that were head and shoulders above the rest. Warne added that not only the duo were the best during his playing days but also of his time.
“I think, though, in my era of cricket, there were two players that stood out and that was Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara. I think those two players were the best two batsmen of my time and two of the greatest batsmen that have ever played the game,” Warne told Sportskeeda.
“So I love bowling to those guys” : Shane Warne
The 145-Test veteran highlighted that he loved bowling to Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara and said that they both had each other’s number equally. Shane Warne stated that all three of them, including himself were the ‘Big 3’ and made the game as exciting as possible for the viewers.
“So I love bowling to those guys. You know, some days they’d smash me all over the park or most days, but some days I get them out too. And I think the three of us, you know, myself, Brian and Sachin, you know, people called us the ‘Big 3,” he added.
