Shane Watson, former Australian all-rounder, has said that he feels extremely fortunate to be associated with a franchise like the Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings.

Shane Watson has been a regular part of the Indian Premier League since its inception. The former Australian all-rounder was one of the major reasons behind the Rajasthan Royals winning the inaugural season. Watson was picked up by the Chennai Super Kings [CSK] in the 2018 auctions and since then the Australian has been a vital part of the franchise.

“I have been very fortunate to play for CSK for the past few years. I really enjoyed my time at the Rajasthan Royals. It was an incredible experience to play under Shane Warne and play in Jaipur, it is a beautiful cricket ground and the wicket is amazing.” Shane Watson said in a video shared by CSK’s official Twitter handle.

Watson heaped praise on the leadership duo of MS Dhoni and Stephen Fleming, adding that the manner in which the franchise is set-up, people coming into the set-up are fully embraced and trusted, which eventually tends to gets the best out of them, as has been the case with Shane Watson.

”But CSK is just an amazing franchise. It is run incredibly well, has leadership all the way down. MS Dhoni, Stephen Fleming, just the way they set up the whole franchise is phenomenal. You come in, you are embraced, you are trusted and so i feel very forntunate to have played for CSK.” he added.

Shane Watson was also picked his favorite moment with the franchise in the past two years and the former Australian all-rounder was quick to point out CSK’s miraculous victory over Mumbai Indians in the opening game of the 2018 IPL.

Needing 166 to win, the Men in Yellow were down in the dumps before all-rounder Dwayne Bravo played a whirlwind knock f 68 off just 30 balls- an innings which included just three fours but seven monstrous sixes. Bravo’s innings and Kedar Jadhav’s final touch, took the MS Dhoni-led unit past the finishing line by just one wicket.

“My favorite moment with CSK was the game against Mumbai Indians in Mumbai in IPL 2018. DJ Bravo batted like a genius. He got us out of trouble and won us after the game. I remember after the game MS Dhoni and Michael Hussey said that this is what we do at CSK.” he added.
