India failed to continue their domination in One-day Internationals after having an upper hand over hosts England, in first ODI at the Trent Bridge. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan helped India to win the first ODI handsomely with eight wickets in hand.

However, things went off in the second match at the iconic Lord’s as England convincingly thrashed Men in Blue by 86 runs.

Things were expected to be similar as that of Twenty20 series in the decider, however, that was not the case. In the final and third ODI played at Headingley India lost Rohit Sharma early on.

Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan tried to rotate the strike in a bid to stabilize the innings. But a fine throw from Ben Stokes was enough to remove dangerous Dhawan.

After then, India lost the wickets at regular intervals.
In response to the Indian total, Jonny Bairstow gave England a flying start, before Shardul Thakur dismissed him.

A fine ton from Joe Root and a skipper’s knock from Eoin Morgan was enough to guide England to a series victory.

England tour for Shikhar Dhawan:

Shikhar Dhawan is regarded as one amongst the underrated batsmen around the world. The aggressive Dhawan had an average English tour so far.

In the T20 series, he was outfoxed by England bowlers as he could only score 19 runs. In the ODI series, he could garner only 120 runs.

Instagram post:

Soon after the culmination of ODI series, Shikhar Dhawan took Instagram, to thank his fans.

His post read as, “Big thanks to all our wonderful fans especially here in the UK who turned up in huge numbers to supports us throughout the series, you guys are incredible. We gave our best but still, our best wasn’t good enough. But we have to channelize our energies to learn from our mistakes, improve on our shortcomings to take up the next challenge. We win some, we lose some but the Grind never stops. ?? #TeamIndia #ENGvIND.”
