It was a sensational last-ball six from the blade of Dinesh Karthik which sealed an improbable victory for India in the final of the Nidahas Trophy. Bangladesh was firmly in control of the match till the beginning of the 19th over. However, Karthik had something else in mind as he smashed his very first ball straight over the bowler’s head for a huge six. He added a four and a six in the next two deliveries to reduced the calculation down to 18 of 9 from 34 of 12.

The wicket-keeper batsman remained unbeaten on 29 of 8 deliveries to ensure a nail-biting victory for the Men in Blue. However, the tournament will be remembered for the Naagin Dance performed by Mushfiqur Rahim. Nazmul Hossain also performed the dance when he dismissed Dhawan. In the Nidahas Trophy, the entire Bangladesh team performed the Nagin dance to celebrate their victory against Sri Lanka to make it to the final of the tournament.

However, the Indian counterparts also did their bit after their victory in the final. Opener Shikhar Dhawan and former legendary batsman turned commentator Sunil Gavaskar were also seen doing the dance.

Coming back to the match, 12 were required of the final over. Part-time pacer Soumya Sarkar was handed over the ball as no other frontline bowlers were available. He bowled pretty well in the first 5 deliveries and conceded only 7 runs. However, the last one was a length ball and Karthik deposited it straight over the extra cover region for a six. The celebrations knew no bounds as the whole team fell over Karthik.
