The former Indian cricketer Shiv Sunder Das, who worked as the coach for Odisha has now moved to coach Manipur for the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2018 edition. Manipur is one of the states that is making Ranji debut this year.
Das has got the knowledge of Manipur for a long time as he conducted camps to search the raw talents. However, it was an excellent move from Manipur to bag the services of Das.
Manipur players have got a friendly rapport with Shiv Sunder Das:
The bond between the players and the coach has always played a significant role in the game of cricket. Following the same path, the head of Manipur Cricket Association (MCA) named Shiv Sundar Das as their head coach.
The major players in the team are from Das camp that paved the way for Das to take up the role. Also, it is learnt from the chairman that Das is elated with the opportunity to train the boys.
“We were looking for good coaches. Some of my players were under him in the Shillong camp and they rated him highly. I met him at that camp and we had had a discussion. Since we are playing this time. I called him and he was ready to come,” Singam Priyananda Singh, the Honorary Secretary, Manipur Cricket Association told Sportstarlive on Wednesday.
Manipur is one of the nine states that is making debut this season. Off all, Pondicherry and Uttarakhand grabbed the major headlines as they have signed the stalwart players in the domestic cricket for this season.
All in all, it has been a bright prospect for the Indian cricket. With the states being stretched to the maximum in Ranji trophy, the exposure for the skilled cricketers will undoubtedly help Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to develop a pool of talented crop of cricketers.
