Pakistan all-rounder Hasan Ali hasn’t played a game for the national side since the 2019 World Cup in England. Ali once hailed as Pakistan’s next big thing, played his last international game for the country against arch-rivals India at Old Trafford.

After a shambolic performance that saw him become the first bowler from the country to register the most expensive figures (1-84) in a World Cup game, Ali was dropped from the set-up and since then he has been grappling with recurring back injuries.

Former Pakistan bowling coach Azhar Mahmood recently kicked up a storm when he said that the reason behind Ali’s injury was that he was made to lift deadweights of 120-130 kg.
The current bowling coach Waqar Younis refuted the claims by saying that Hasan Ali got injured during a First-Class match. Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar is not too happy with the way Ali has trained during his recovery process. Akhtar also reckoned that Ali has been overworked and hasn’t been managed well by the management.

“Hasan got injured due to training as well as overwork. Plus, he played a lot of cricket for the past year or two and wasn’t managed properly. When I met him 25 days ago, I told him to do light and high repetition training so there is no stiffness and rigidness in his muscle,” Akhtar was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Akhtar further said that the learning process of Pakistan cricketers is slow because they do not know the anatomy of their bodies and how to do repetition training.

“He is looking very weak and his shoulders [are] also very thin. He went through the wrong training and was asked to lift heavyweights. The learning process of our cricketers is very slow because they do not know the anatomy of their bodies and how to do high repetition training,” Akhtar added.

“There was a bit mess up from everybody along with Hasan Ali. However, Azhar should have said all this when he was looking after him but I don’t understand why he is saying all this now,” Akhtar added.

Hasan Ali did make his comeback to competitive cricket in the recent PSL where he claimed 8 wickets from 9 games at an average of 34.37.
