Shoaib Akhtar, the former Pakistan fast bowler, has lambasted skipper Babar Azam following the visitor’s five-wicket defeat against England in the second T20I of the three-match series at the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester.

Azam had a good game with the bat. His 44-ball 56 laid the platform on which Mohammad Hafeez cashed-in to help the team post 4-195 in overs. But it was Babar’s lackluster captaincy that has disappointed Shoaib the most.

Akhar said that Babar Azam looked like a ‘lost cow’ on the field, adding that he was clueless in his decision making. During the game, senior players and former captains in Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik were constantly seen giving advice to  Azam. Shoaib Akhtar said that the 26-year-old needs to learn to take decisions on his own in order to grow as a leader.

‘’Babar Azam looks like a lost cow to me. He is out there, not knowing what to do. It is important for him to take decisions on his own so that it could help him become a better captain in the coming times,” the former speedster shared his views on his YouTube channel,’’ Shoaib Akhtar said on his official Youtube channel.

“Babar will need to understand that the chances coming his way are not going to happen for the rest of his life, so he needs to make the most out of it,” he added.

Akhtar also lambasted the Pakistani team-management, adding that the team is playing in an ‘insecure bubble’, where everyone, from coach to management to captain and team is ‘insecure’ and ‘confused’

‘’Pakistan team are playing in a bio ‘insecure’ bubble, where each player is insecure. No one has an idea about whether they want to become a good captain or a good brand. Confused selection, confused management, confused captain, confused team and confusion of everything. Teams are not made like this,” he added.

The third and final T20I will be played on Tuesday and it will be interesting to see if Pakistan can pull their socks up and finish what has been a forgettable tour with a win.
