Virat Kohli is the wicket to get for any fast bowler. Much like Viv Richards of the past. If the current India captain gets going he can leave the opposition in tatters. Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar liked to open the attack on his counter-parts. He was fast, could produce bounce, and swing when required.

Shoaib Akhtar has analysed Virat Kohli’s game. He knows his calibre even though he has not bowl to the Indian record-breaking machine much. In an Instagram live, Shoaib Akhtar revealed how he would get the better of Virat Kohli. Incidentally, the Rawalpindi express, also had a back-up in place.

Would go wider of the crease: Shoaib Akhtar

Shoaib Akhtar would invite Virat Kohli to drive the ball. He would pitch it full and wide and shape it away from the right-hander. And if that does not works, he would bowl at express pace to get the better off the prolific India batsman, said Shoaib Akhtar.

“If I was bowling, I would go wider of the crease and pitch the ball up [to Kohli] and shape it away from him in order to make him drive,” Shoaib Akhtar said.

“If that does not work, I will bowl him at 150 (kph) and he will get out,” he added.

One of the legendary fast bowlers that Pakistan has produced, Shoaib Akhtar played 46 Tests, 163 ODIs and 15 T20Is, before hanging up his boots. He has 178 Test wickets, 247 ODI wickets and 19 T20I wickets to his name. The 44-year-old was one of the finest fast bowlers international cricket has ever witnessed.
