Senior Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik is set to join Pakistan squad for the T20I series against England. According to a media release from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Shoaib Malik will leave for Southampton on August 15, provided he returns two negative Covid-19 tests as per the agreed protocols and processes.

Malik will be a part of the T20I series against England which is slated to get underway from August 28 at Old Trafford. The remaining two matches will be played at the same venue on the 30th and September 1.

The PCB had approved Shoaib’s request for delayed departure so that he could spend some time with his family, whom he had not met since the start of the year, according to the release.

Meanwhile, assistant coach Shahid Aslam will return to Manchester on 8 August. He had arrived in Lahore last week to attend his father’s funeral.

Malik will be a boost as T20I specialist for the Pakistan squad, which is doing considerably well at the time of writing on Day 3 of the first Test against England. He has played 113 matches in the shortest format and scored at an average over 31. He has also picked up 28 wickets with his part-time bowling effort.
