Shreyas Iyer, Delhi Capitals skipper, has confirmed that swashbuckling wicketkeeper-batsman, Rishabh Pant, will be resting for a week following the doctor’s advice after having suffered an injury during the last match against Rajasthan Royals.

Iyer said this on the sidelines of the Delhi Capitals five-wicket defeat against defending champions, Mumbai Indians, a game that Rishabh Pant missed due to the same injury.

”We have no idea when Rishabh is back. I spoke to the doctor, and he said he will be resting for a week,” Shreyas Iyer said on Rishabh Pant’s injury status the post-match presentation.

Rishabh Pant’s injury forced a couple of changes into the Delhi Capitals playing XI with Ajinkya Rahane replacing the southpaw and Australian swashbuckler coming in place of Shimron Hetmyer as a specialist wicketkeeper.

Unfortunately, the changes didn’t work as the Delhi-based franchise was unable to find any sort of rhythm to their batting. Shikhar Dhawan played throughout the course of 20 overs for his 69 while the likes of Shreyas Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane squandered their starts.

Marcus Stoinis was looking set to give the Capitals a great finish but his run-out meant that DC eventually fell short of what would have been a par total. Eventually, half-centuries from Quinton de Kock and Suryakumar Yadav meant that Mumbai Indians successfully overhauled the total.

With Rishabh Pant out for at least one week, it means DC will be without the swashbuckler’s service in their next game against Rajasthan Royals on October 14th.
