Shubman Gill has been a story to cherish for the fans ever since the 2018 Under-19 World Cup concluded. Many remember him for his hundred against Pakistan in the semi-final clash of the WC; a few only followed his game later. Meanwhile, he recently hit his maiden double century in the Ranji Trophy against Tamil Nadu. Yuvraj Singh, Shubman’s teammate at Punjab and a veteran of the game, feels Gill will enter India’s dressing room after the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales.
Gill is a ‘special talent’ – Yuvraj
Lavishing praises on the youngster, Yuvraj said Gill’s future in the Indian team would only depend on the way he gets nurtured. Backing his statement, Yuvraj said Rishabh Pant is the prime example. As a year back, Pant’s inclusion got questioned, the youngster silenced his critics with two tons outside Asia since his debut.

He also opined that taking care of a player is a crucial element in his success. Furthermore, the World Cup winner added he likes to watch Shubman bat.
“He is a young guy whose batting I like to watch. He is very exciting. He should serve India for a long time, but that will also depend on how well he is looked after. A prime example is Rishabh Pant. When he was chosen for India, there were many who said he plays too many shots, is rash, doesn’t have the mind. But after one year of being in and out, after one IPL, he has now two Test hundreds abroad. You have to look after your talented guys, give them the confidence to excel,”
I am really proud of the guys – Yuvi

As Punjab gets ready to take on Bengal in their Ranji Trophy clash, Yuvraj spoke about India’s performance Down Under. The left-handed batsman said beating Australia in Australia is no less than a significant achievement.
Yuvraj credited Jasprit Bumrah’s hand in helping India gain ultimate momentum against the Aussies. Also, he didn’t shy away from showering a word of praise on Kohli and Pujara as well.
“I am really proud of the guys. Australia has always been a tough tour though this time the experience in their batting isn’t that much. Everyone contributed; fantastic effort by the guys, (Cheteshwar) Pujara, (Virat) Kohli, (Jaspreet) Bumrah excelled and it was great to see Rishabh going down the order and scoring big runs”
I am trying my best – Yuvraj on his comeback

Speaking on his return to cricket, Yuvraj Singh says the 2019 World Cup is in his sights. He added, he has a few Ranji games, an IPL to season to push his case for the selection.
“I am trying my best. After the Ranji Trophy, we will have the T20s (the national championship) and then the IPL, so let’s see.”
