Bollywood superstar and co-owner of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Shah Rukh Khan, on Monday, decided to interact with his millions of followers on Twitter. The veteran actor held a question and answer session on the social media platform and as expected, his followers asked him a variety of questions. And while most of the questions were related to his film career and personal life, one of his followers went on to ask him about his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise.

The user asked Shah Rukh Khan when will Kolkata Knight Riders appoint Shubman Gill as their captain. The two-time IPL champions are currently led by veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik. The Tamil Nadu ace led the franchise in the last two seasons and has been named the captain for the upcoming season too. But very would bet against Shubman Gill not taking the captaincy of the team in the future.

The highly-rated batsman is being widely regarded as the next big thing in Indian cricket. Kolkata Knight Riders secured his services in 2018 after the right-handed batsman impressed in the U19 World Cup. The Kolkata-based outfit spent INR 1.8 to secure Shubman Gill’s services and so far, the youngster has pretty much lived up to the expectations.

But while only time will tell whether Shubman Gill will lead the franchise or not, Shah Rukh Khan had a hilarious response to the user. The actor hilariously replied that the franchise would appoint Gill as their captain when the user would be named the team’s head coach.

“As soon as KKR makes you the Head Coach my friend,” replied Shah Rukh Khan.

Meanwhile, expectations will be sky high from Gill in the upcoming season. With Chris Lynn no more part of the team, the youngster could become a regular opener for the franchise. Last year, he scored 296 runs in 14 games with the help of three fifties as the Knight Riders narrowly missed the playoff spots.
