The Mumbai cricketer has been with since 2015 but only got a game in the last season earlier this year where they lifted their fourth title beating Chennai Super Kings in the final. Lad replaced skipper Rohit Sharma, who missed a game against Kings XI Punjab owing to an injury.

Siddesh Lad failed to make the best use of the opportunity, managing to score only 15 runs. He hit a six off the first ball he faced but failed to make it a big one. And now, Mumbai Indians, in a bid to build a stronger team, have traded Lad to Kolkata Knight Riders for the next season.

The 27-year-old joins Kolkata’s strong domestic batting line-up which boasts the likes of Shubhman Gill, skipper Dinesh Karthik, and Nitesh Rana. Kolkata Knight Riders have always focused on domestic talents and it will only strengthen their core team.

Siddhesh Lad averages over 25 from the 38 T20 games he has played so far. The middle-order batsman has amassed 628 runs including three half-centuries. Lad can also chip in with gentle off-breaks and recently scalped a five-wicket haul in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Kolkata Knight Riders have been silently working on their squads ahead of the auctions on December 19 in Kolkata. The Dinesh Karthik-led side will hope to add to their two titles in the upcoming edition of the IPL.
