Smriti Mandhana Hits 18 Balls Half-Century in Kia Women's Super League

Indian Women’s cricketer Smriti Mandhana scripted history as she smashed the fastest half-century in the Kia Women’s Super League during the 7th match of the competition between Western Storm and Loughborough Lightning. Mandhana reached her half-century in just 18 balls. It was a sensational innings to say the least as she smashed Loughborough bowlers all around the park. She remained unbeaten on 52 of a mere 19 deliveries as Western Storms stormed their way to a 18 runs victory.
Owing to rain, the match was reduced to a 6 overs affair. Western Storm batted first and they needed to get off to a flying start in a rain-curtailed match. Smriti Mandhana is known to be a naturally attacking batswoman. She played some exceptional shots. It was a top class innings to stay the least. Her unbeaten knock of 52 of 19 deliveries was studded with 5 fours and 4 sixes.

Loughborough played quite well and didn’t lose a wicket in their 6 overs. The target of 86 was always going to be a tough proposition for the opponents. Sophie Devine scored a brilliant knock of 46 of 21 deliveries which as studded with 3 fours and 4 sixes. It was a great knock but the target was always going to be tough.
Her partner Rachael Haynes remained unbeaten on 18 of just 15 deliveries in the end. It was a great resounding performance by Western Storm. However, it was largely possible owing to a whirlwind knock of 52 runs by Smriti. She has been an impressive performer for her national team. Mandhana was one of the top performers for India in the ICC Women’s World Cup.
The strokeplay scored a 90 against England in the opening match and followed it up with a brilliant match-winning century against Windies. Her performances faded out quite considerably as the tournament progressed. However, she is one of the finest women’s stroke-maker in the modern day.
