Sourav Ganguly Assures BCCI's Support For Development Of Cricket In Jammu and Kashmir

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has now assured his complete support for the development of cricket in Jammu and Kashmir after representatives consisting of team captain Parvez Rasool, mentor Irfan Pathan and a top official met the BCCI president at the headquarters on Monday.

It was understood that a whole host of issues with regards to state cricket was clearly discussed with Sourav Ganguly. Now that the problems will be solved and the players can breathe a sigh of relief after Ganguly assured his words.

“The BCCI president heard their points and has assured full support for the development of cricket in the region. We have requested the BCCI president to provide us with better facilities,” a senior Jammu and Kashmir CA official told news agency PTI.

It was also learnt that BCCI President Ganguly was informed about the current situation and plans of hosting home fixtures in Jammu.

Situation will be clear in the next one and a half months: BCCI official

“We expect that the home games of Jammu and Kashmir will once again be played in Jammu. We have a college ground in Jammu and we plan to upgrade and develop the facilities there so that first-class matches can be conducted,” the source in the know of developments added.

Things haven’t been going well for Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) of late. They had gone through a crisis in the recent past months and the official on the condition of anonymity added that they have assured the BCCI President that the situation will be clear in next 1 and a half months.

Meanwhile, Irfan Pathan and Parvez Rasool declined to make any remarks. Talking about the latest activity, Jammu and Kashmir senior team are now playing their Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy group league fixtures in Surat. Shubham Pundir is leading the team from the front in Rasool’s absence.
