South Africa Cricket team have leapfrogged New Zealand and England to take the second spot in the MRF Tyres ICC Test Team Rankings following their 3-0 whitewash against Pakistan. Meanwhile, South Africa have gained four points to reach 110 points, two points above England. However, Indian National Cricket team leads the chart with 116 points after their 2-1 victory over Australia in a four-match series.
However, Pakistan have gone down one position, slipping behind Sri Lanka to seventh place. Pakistan started the series with 92 points but are now on 88 points, three points less than Sri Lanka. Sarfraz Ahamed & Co have struggled all through the series and as a result of that, they slip down the rankings list. The Lankans founds themselves in the sixth spot with 91 points, three more the Pakistan.
New Zealand are one point behind England at 107 points. England will have to win their upcoming three-match series against the Windies starting on 23 January to remain ahead of New Zealand. Furthermore, Australia completes the list of top five with 101 points, six less than neighbours New Zealand, after their recent 2-1 snubbing against India at the home soil.
Windies, Bangladesh, and Zimbabwe complete the chart of top ten with 70, 69, and 13 points respectively. The Caribbeans find themselves one point above the team from the sub-continent following their recent Test series win in Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, with few Test series lined up later this month, the rankings chart will witness a few changes. Windies will play a three-match Test series against England while Australia lock horns in a two-match series against Sri Lanka.
