Special feat beckons MS Dhoni in England

MS Dhoni is nearing yet another feat in international cricket.

Former India captain, MS Dhoni has achieved numerous feats so far in his international career.

The man with a ‘Midas’ touch is all set to walk over another golden line, comes the series against England. India will take on an in-form England side next month.

The men in blue are currently in the United Kingdom to play a couple of T20Is against Ireland.

The games will be played on June 27 and 29, respectively. Virat Kohli’s men will then lock horns with the English side in a series of three ODIs and three T20Is and five Test matches.

Dhoni set to join the elite list

Dhoni, who is a regular member of the Indian side in limited-overs cricket, will join an elite list.

He will become only the third Indian to feature in 500 or more international matches. The 36-year old made his debut back in 2004 against Bangladesh. He will join former stalwarts Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid.

Tendulkar at the top

The wicket-keeper batsman is currently at 497 games and is likely to achieve the feat on July 3rd when the visitors will take on England in the first of the three T20Is.

Tendulkar holds the record with 664 international appearances followed by Sri Lankan maestro Mahela Jayawardene, who played 652 games.

Another Sri Lankan great- Kumar Sangakkara is at the third spot with 594 games. Dhoni is at the 10th position just behind Inzamam-ul-Haq, who played 499 games.

  • 1st T20I on July 3 at Old Trafford, Manchester
  • 2nd T20I on July 6 at Sophia Gardens Cardiff
  • 3rd T20I on July 8 at County Ground, Bristol
  • 1st ODI on July 12 at Trent Bridge, Nottingham
  • 2nd ODI on July 14 at Lord’s London
  • 3rd ODI on July 17 at Headingley, Leeds
  • 1st Test between August 1 and five at Edgbaston, Birmingham
