Weeks after Kerala captain Sachin Baby said Sreesanth is still unplayable, he maintained his stand on his bowling, but reckoned that the fast bowler is not ‘match fit’. However, the comeback for Sreesanth in competitive cricket remains a much-anticipated event in the cricket fraternity.
S Sreesanth’s life ban for his role in alleged spot-fixing during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2013 was reduced to seven years by the Supreme Court, which ends in September 2020. His state team Kerala has backed him and said that Sreesanth will considered to play in the upcoming Ranji trophy season.
Match fitness in not with Sreesanth: Kerala captain Sachin Baby
After resuming the practice with Kerala, Sreesanth is looking to get back to his rhythm. His state team has given him hopes for a comeback but Kerala captain Sachin Baby has not shown any certainty about it. Baby told CricketAddictor that Sreesanth is not match fit, though he is bowling well and maintained his physique over the years.
“We have been training together for last seven years, he likes to bowl always. He has been maintaining body as well. So, obviously the match fitness is not with him but still he is fit, and bowling well in the nets,” Kerala captain Sachin Baby told CricketAddictor in an exclusive interview.
“He is still in his kit, we are all waiting for his comeback, I’m sure after this lockdown, in Kerala it is rainy season, so after this he will be back in the match fitness too, he is working really hard,” he added.
The 36-year-old has played 27 Tests, 53 ODIs and 10 T20 Internationals for India, claiming 169 wickets in all. He last played for India back in 2011.
