For Cheteshwar Pujara, a batsman who has enjoyed a stellar last couple of years with the bat, Saturday (November 18) was an unusual as well as forgettable day to some extent. The right-handed batsman, who had scored two centuries including one double ton in this year’s Ranji Trophy before playing the ongoing first Test at Kolkata, was the only batsman who bravely faced the Sri Lankan pacers on a tough Eden Gardens track.

The fact that he scored 52 on a pitch where the other five of India’s top-six batsmen could not score more than 8 proves the quality of his innings. None of the Indian player could cross even the 30-run mark as India were all out for just 172.

However, as soon as he was castled by Lahiru Gamage for 52, his dubious record in Tests extended. The dismissal was the eighteenth occasion when Pujara’s defense was breached as he increased the gap between him and the second-placed batsman who has been bowled out the most times since he made his debut in 2010.

The second in the list is the legendary duo Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag both of whom were bowled out on 12 occasions. With 11 bowled out dismissals by his name, Sachin Tendulkar is third in this list.

Meanwhile, former Australia skipper Allan Border holds the record of being bowled most number of times in Tests while Dravid is the highest-placed Indian in the list at the fifth position.
