Jofra Archer is fast becoming a terror for the batsmen. The young England star is terrorising opposition with his express pace. His duel with Steve Smith in the just-concluded second Test will go down in history as one of the finest the game has ever seen. It was an intriguing battle which ended with Smith leaving the field after receiving a nasty blow on his neck.

The former Australia skipper, who was well set on 80, took his eyes off a rising delivery and ended up receiving the blow. He soon fell on the ground before walking off. Smith did come off to bat again after a while but was later concussed out. He is now doubtful for the upcoming third Test, starting on Thursday.

In the same game, Jofra Archer had welcomed Marnus Labuschagne with a bouncer that swept the batsman off his feet. Labuschagne had replaced Smith in the playing as a concussion substitute but started his innings in the worst possible manner. He, however, had gone on to score a fighting fifty to help Australia draw the game and maintain their lead in the series.

Talking about Jofra Archer, he has now hit a player with his delivery 15 times since making his debut in May this year. No other bowler has hit any batsman’s body or helmet these many times, according to CricViz.  Pat Cummins is second in the list with 12 hits followed by Mark Wood’s nine.

Kemar Roach and Kagiso Rabada complete the top five. New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson is at sixth. Shannon Gabriel, Chris Woakes, Andre Russell, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood have hit a player with their deliveries on four occasions.
