Unlike many other sports, you don’t see cricketers fighting out against each other on the field. For apparent reasons, cricket is called as Gentlemen’s Game. However, there have been instances on the ground when such a statement got questioned. Even those who have been pictured as the nicest guys the game has seen were on record cheating. Just to name a few, Cheteshwar Pujara and ICC Hall of Famer, Rahul Dravid fall in this category.

No one’s honest, not even Dravid!

Why not? After all, he’s a human, and he has a choice of not leaving the crease even after edging one to the keeper. Forget him; the most looked upto cricketer in a decade, Ab de Villiers also stood his ground after knicking one to the slips, not even the keeper. Meanwhile, India National Cricket Team player, Cheteshwar Pujara was amongst the headlines; not for scoring a hundred in his Ranji game, but for staying at the crease after edging not once, but twice to the wicketkeeper.

The instances took place during the semifinal of the Ranji Trophy 2018-19 in Bengaluru. During both the innings, India’s number three in Tests edged one to the keeper. Though the umpire didn’t raise his finger on neither of the occasions, Pujara didn’t move either; provoking the crowd to begin chanting ‘Cheater, cheater.’

Meanwhile, it came to the forefront of the social media, and the batsman did receive some flak for showing dishonesty towards the game. Now, not only him, even in the past, Rahul Dravid decided to stay at his crease even after edging one. It was during an ODI in New Zealand in 1999, when Rahul knicked one off Chris Cairns to the wicketkeeper. Since he stood around after that, Dravid went onto complete a hundred, and also helped India win the game.

I am more than just a cricket lover. I have been breathing this game since I was three, and now I am making a living out of it. Also, FC Barcelona happens to be my second love, and evidently, I prefer...
