Stuart Broad, on Sunday, came up with an interesting reply after a cricket fan said that Virat Kohli is the best white-ball player at present. It all started when the England pacer hailed his compatriot Jos Buttler as England’s best-ever white-ball player after the latter’s match-winning performance against Australia in the second T20I.

After scoring 44 in the first match, the wicketkeeper-batsman scored an unbeaten 77 in the second to guide his side to a series-clinching six-wicket win. He batted throughout for his 54-ball knock as the hosts reached their target of 158 with seven balls left.

England started the chase on a nervous note as Jonny Bairstow departed cheaply after hitting his own wicket in the third over. But before Australia could make further inroads, Jos Buttler added 87 runs with Dawid Malan to put England on track for the win.

Malan fell for 42, and Tom Banton and Eoin Morgan followed in a collapse of 3 for 29, but Jos Buttler made sure that England cross the finishing line without much troubles. With 18 needed from the final two overs, Moeen Ali hit 10 from two balls before Jos Buttler sealed the victory with a huge six.

Following Jos Buttler’s match-winning knock, Stuart Broad took to Twitter to lavish praise on his teammate.

“England’s best ever white ball cricketer does it again. ⭐️ @josbuttler
??,”
wrote Stuart Broad.

Best white-ball player:

Following Stuart Broad’s tweet, ESPNCricinfo asked the fans whether the pacer was right to call Buttler England’s best-ever white-ball player. The fans came up with different replies and one of them surprisingly wrote: “No. Virat Kohli is the best.”

The fan must have made a mistake in understanding the question as it was asked whether Buttler was England’s best and not the world’s best. Stuart Broad noticed the comment and he was quick to reply to it. Interestingly, the pacer did not say that Kohli is the best in the world.  The India captain is widely regarded as the best all-format player in the world.

In white-ball cricket especially in ODIs, he is heads and shoulders above the rest if his stats are concerned. But perhaps Stuart Broad does not rate him the best in the world although he called him India’s best as he wrote: “I agree Kohli is India’s. I am saying Jos is England’s.”
